Cookie’s instead of Cake – Gideons

You guys!! I got to be a Wedding photographer at zootampa!! It has been a few years since I photographed a wedding at Zootampa in Lowry park. As a wedding photographer, it’s always a thrill to capture the love and joy of a couple’s special day. But when that day also includes animal encounters at one of the most picturesque zoos in the country, the result is truly unforgettable. That’s exactly what I had the pleasure of experiencing recently at ZooTampa at Lowry Park, where a beautiful same-sex wedding took place. There were so many wonderful things to photograph. From their family trees that were literal art pieces, to having the wedding party carry their favorite book instead of flowers. (It’s the ribbon for me, what a good detail.)

The lush and exotic surroundings of the zoo provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s celebration, and the opportunity for some truly unique and magical photo moments. The couple opted for animal encounters and it was a surprise with who came out. We got to see some of the zoo’s most beloved residents, including the porcupine and the lesser anteater!! This is something amazing that not every wedding has so it added an extra touch of adventure and excitement to the day. Think of those memories!!

The ceremony took place at sunset, under the trees and lanterns, and it was simply stunning. The soft light of the setting sun, combined with the romantic ambiance of the lanterns, created a dreamy and intimate atmosphere that was perfect for the couple’s exchange of vows. The guests were moved by the love and commitment that the Spencer and Spencer had for each other, and I was able to capture it all in stunning detail.

As a photographer, it’s always a challenge to balance capturing the essence of the day with staying in the background, but the beautiful surroundings and emotional moments of this wedding made it easy. I was able to capture all of the special moments, from the animal encounters to the sunset ceremony, in a way that truly reflected the love and joy of the day. I love that we did their portraits before the ceremony (Since we needed to maximize the lighting and they got to walk around the zoo, finding all the amazing portrait spots full of their favorite animals). They also had giddies cookies instead of Cake (Genius move right there!!)

Being their wedding photographer at ZooTampa was a beautiful and unforgettable event, and it was a true privilege to be a part of it. The unique surroundings, combined with the love and emotion of the day, made for a celebration that was truly one of a kind, and I am grateful for the opportunity to capture it all in stunning detail.
