Sunset on the east coast is really pretty. It’s a softer light. This family had their session captured at sunset and we get that softer light on the beach. If you wanted to mimic those sunset shots (like on the West coast) then you would need to wake up 15 minutes before sunrise. Both are beautiful options. Sunrise you get your shoot done with early and have the day free. There’s a bit of peace at the ocean in the mornings too. Typically the seas and winds are calmer than in the evenings. And there is beauty in being some of the only people awake. It’s also great if you have those little early risers (Yes we all know about those kids that wake up with the sun, especially on vacation.) Which is also helpful in avoiding that, well they didn’t take their nap today moments that occur on family portrait days.
