Rain or Shine: An Extended Family Session at Margaritaville Resort

As a photographer based in sunny Central Florida, I know how unpredictable the weather can be! But when it comes to capturing precious family memories, we don’t let a little rain get in the way. That’s exactly what happened during this extended family session at Margaritaville Resort—where the tropical vibes are always on, rain or shine! We were avoiding the incoming bands of Hurricane Milton by upping our shooting time and it was a really smart move.

A Perfect Spot for All Weather

When I arrived at Margaritaville, I was ready for anything the day might throw at us. The forecast called for rain, but the great thing about this resort is that it’s a stunning location, no matter the weather! With plenty of beautiful indoor spaces and cozy, covered outdoor areas, there was no need to reschedule. Margaritaville’s laid-back, tropical atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for this fun-loving family.

Making the Best of a Rainy Day

As soon as the family arrived, we jumped right into capturing their smiles, laughter, and love in the front of the lobby. Since it was covered we still got some of the outside tropical plants. From grandparents to little ones, everyone was dressed to impress and ready to make the most of the day. We then went indoors with some fun group shots in the resort’s back steps, with a more neutral backdrop. There’s something about the easygoing vibe of Margaritaville that just brings out those big, natural smiles!

Even though it was raining outside, we didn’t miss a beat. We found some fantastic indoor locations with great lighting and neutral décor that matched the family’s energy. The kids loved exploring the space, and we captured so many candid moments of them playing, laughing, and just being themselves.

When the Sun Came Out…

In true Florida fashion, the rain cleared up just in time for us to head outdoors for a few more shots. The clouds parted! We took advantage of the resort’s lush landscaping and bright, tropical vibes for some gorgeous outdoor family portraits.

The whole session felt like a tropical escape, even though we never left the resort grounds. Margaritaville truly has it all—beautiful indoor spots to keep you dry when it’s rainy and stunning outdoor areas for when the sun decides to shine.
