Maternity sessions are some of my favorite shoots ever. You have the best prop with your cute bump. Even if you don’t feel up to it I promise an even a mini photo shoot is better than not having any. My kids love looking at their pictures of their mom with them in their mommy.
Here’s some of the common questions I get asked before a maternity session in the Orlando area.
- When is the best time for a maternity session?
- Clients often ask this to ensure the timing captures their bump at its best. Typically, it’s recommended between 28-36 weeks. But any time that you feel up to it is great.
- Where should the session take place?
- What should I wear for the session?
- You can always wear something tight to highlight the bump or embrace a long flowy dress. I’ve done beautiful shots with jeans and a white top too. Feel free to even bring two outfits.
- Can my partner and other children be included?
- Please feel free to add in partners and siblings to document the family’s journey. Even your fur baby.
- What is the pricing and what does it include?
- I quote maternity sessions based off my standard portrait rates. If there are any travel fees or permit fees I will add those to the package.
- How long does a maternity session last?
- Depending on which package your session can last anywhere from 20-up to 2 hours but most are about 45-1 hour.
- Do you provide hair and makeup services?
- I don’t but I love to recommend Stacy Otto
- What if I’m not feeling my best?
- It’s completely normal to feel a bit uncertain or self-conscious, especially during pregnancy when your body is going through so many changes. But I want to assure you that maternity photos are all about celebrating this incredible journey you’re on, and my goal is to capture the beauty of this moment in a way that makes you feel amazing.
- We’ll work together to make sure you feel comfortable and confident. I’ll guide you through flattering poses and angles that highlight your best features. You’ll be surprised at how stunning you’ll look!
- Can we bring props or personal items?
- If you would like to have them please feel free, my most common items are ultrasound photos, baby shoes, or even the baby blankets.
- How do we prepare for the session?
- Try and rest, hydrate, you can practice some poses in the mirror, which you can find on my website, Pinterest even lemon 8. Pamper yourself, get your nails and hair/makeup done.
And most importantly, remember that this session is about capturing the love and joy of this special time, not about perfection. Sometimes the raw, authentic moments are the most beautiful. You’ll look back on these photos with pride, knowing they reflect the strength and beauty of motherhood.
